Gregor Mendel, it didn't work. Personally, I have always wondered why anyone would breed an inferior dog at all, even if you could "blend" your way out of it. Why not find the best dog you can find and breed it to the best dog you can find and get an even better dog? Or, as the saying goes; "breed the best to the best and hope for the best."
I had a lady bring an AKC registered German Shepherd to me for an instinct test. According to her, this dog had everything he needed to be a champion, except temperament. He was shy, timid and anxious. In the show ring, he was only able to fake it and exhibit "the look of eagles" for about half as long as needed to win. When panic set in and his true nature reappeared, his head drooped, his ears flattened and his stride shortened. I only half expected her to tell me no when I asked whether she would breed this dog, but was utterly dissappointed to hear her tell me adamantly, "absolutely." Her reasoning was that she had bitches in her kennel that would easily cover up his withering temperament with their boldness, and his tremendous coloring, conformation and movement were just too good to pass up. What she didn't know is that Mr. Mendel's work had proved her wrong 150 years ago.
Mr. Dathe closes in his article by suggesting that we should not breed to mask our dog's faults, not try to "blend" them away, but breed dogs to enhance their strong points. Then he gives some very good advice when he says; "consider it.

Oral sex increases your risk of acquiring an HPV infection in your mouth or throat. Since the vast majority of HPV associated throat cancers seem to be caused by HPV 16, it is possible that the HPV vaccine might be useful for prevention. Although study results are mixed, it seems possible that smoking and alcohol use may interact with HPV infection to increase a person's risk of cancer.

Over 150 million of the living people in America today will experience some kind of hemorrhoids by the age of 50. Most will do nothing about it. Only 500,000 are expected to seek help this year. There has been a lot of hoopla about the PSA prostate cancer test for men primarily over the age of 40. I have written several small articles (circa mid 1990s) about the inaccuracy of this test in the past but now it has come to the point that it is a Billion Dollar Scam on all males of the world, but mostly American men. It is one of the highest profile tests for men that exists today.
If you dont believe me then read about it in The New York Times and The Washington Post. They both say the PSA test is basically worthless.
Why do I call it a . Because it is being touted as a means to improve the health of all men and protect them from getting cancer. This is just not a true statement. High PSA levels do not indicate cancer. What a high PSA does indicate is that there is something happening to cause inflammation of the prostate. It could be cancer but most times it is not cancer. A recent infection causing an enlargement of the prostate would be indicated by a high PSA level.
Consider this. Every may over the age of 50 will die with a prostate cancer condition, BUT only a very few men will die from prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is very, very slow growing and will have almost no effect on the quality of a mans life.
One thing the pressure to get a PSA test does if to provide the medical professionals the information that they use to drive men to go the next step and get a biopsy. These biospys are very risky as the process of a puncture into the prostrate could spread the cancer, even if it is very small, through the rest of the body. Now that person has cancer for real.
Stanford University had on it staff one Dr. Thomas Stamey. He was one of the original advocates of PSA testing. But Dr. Stanley changed because in 2004 at a medical conference he exposed the risks with the PSA test. Dt. Stamey made the comment in his lecture We have been so thorough and effective in screening for prostate cancer over this 20-year period that PSA no longer has a relationship to prostate cancer. Because we all develop the cancer, were now removing prostates from men whose cancer is so small that htey do not need the procedure. Were finding all these little cancers that are never going to be a danger to the patient. In smaller cancers, the PSA test is not relevant anymore; you might as well biopsy a man because he has blue eyes.
Over time the PSA test has become more frequent and the decision point to begin therapy has started sooner and more aggressive even though the prostate cancer is clinically insignificant. The usual will be for radiation, surgery and chemotherapy. The oncologists will take all the credit for an increased survival rate of men with prostate cancer. The failure in the whole system is that these men would have survived anyway. Now these men have to face incontinence, impotence and other diseases. It is say that medical politics and greed has driven the medical establishment to the level of a scam as initially mentioned above.
To avoid all the above what do men do?
Be aware of what you need to do to keep a healthy prostate. It is a gland so it needs good blood circulation and lymphatic circulation and drainage. Exrcise will accomplish this better than any one other thing. Walking moves all the muscles in the pelvic area. If you sit 8 hours a day because thats your job, then you need to take extra time to walk and it will increase your chanced of NOT having a prostate problem.
Avoid intense sexual excitement without a natural conclusion of ejaculation. This causes engorgement of the gland and if it continues for a long period of time it could lead to structural and functional damage to the prostate. A regular sexual habit is best.
It is best if you can avoid a diet that is very heavy in meats which would include beef, veal, port and poultry. Hormones previously used in cattle production of beef are mostly outlawed. Poultry producers have no such restriction. This includes chickens and turkeys.
Instead eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, organic is preferred. Juicing twice a day is especially beneficial. Juicing twice a day combined with at least 8 - 8 ounce glasses of pure filtered water will do wonders in the cleansing of the urinary tract and the body in general. Do not overindulge in coffee and alcohol.

Another 8.5 pounds down. I haven't been below 300 pounds in, well I don't even know how long. At least 7 years or so. So this is very exciting for me, and prayerfully, I'll never see a 300 or more on the scale again!

The hunger feelings really scared me, because I had gotten used to not being hungry at all, and loved it. It's been 3 weeks that I haven't had a piece of solid food at all. Nothing but water (including broth) nutrition shakes has finally taken it's toll on me. I'm tired of it. And it's to the point where I just rather not drink anything rather than force that stuff down.
It got really bad, and I contemplated just jumping to puree'd foods at that point. I just didn't care. I wanted to TASTE something, because I THOUGHT I was hungry.
Just before I took that plunge, I emailed someone I met online (TJ) who has been through this and had amazing results. I needed some advice and some help asap. TJ, who is a godsend, successfully talked me out of making a mistake of moving too fast. He also explained that my head hunger (which was truly what it was) was playing tricks on me. Craving for food and your head hunger can truly make you think you are physically hungry, when you're not. After several emails back and forth, I finally realized just what I was going through. I made some broth, and everything was fine. Thank God for TJ.
Also during that time, I had my first "regret" moment. I got really down, and wondered why I even put myself through this. It was especially hard this weekend because my mom through a party for her boyfriend, and there was FOOD GALORE around. I even cooked some of the food for her. What a test it was to cook food I couldn't taste (I relied on others to tell me if it needed more seasoning or things like that). Then when it was time to eat, I had to politely excuse myself and go sit in the car. I'm only 2 weeks post op, I'm not strong enough to be around tons of food like that, when I havent eaten in about 21 days.
Let's just say, it's been a LONG week. I'm glad I made it through, and puree is right around the corner (wednesday), and I know that in the long run, this will all be worth it. I just need to be strong for now.

The best way to control your weight once you have achieved the ideal for your height and sex is to maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise. A healthy diet should include a good proportion of raw foods such as fruit and salad. You should also have a good range of vegetables and whole grains. Restrict the amount of red meat, poultry and dairy products.
The common mistake people make when they are trying to lose weight is to exchange sugared drinks and desserts with low calorie alternatives. This might be ok occasionally, but to overload your system with artificial sweeteners is harmful, and in some cases it is better to eat real sugar. Replace soda with water and freshly squeezed juice. If juice is made from concentrate, then you should dilute it before drinking.
There is no shortage of ways in which to incorporate regular exercise into your daily schedule. Simple measures such as walking or cycling to work may be enough to your exercise needs each day. Otherwise, you may prefer to join a gym, which is a good social option for getting exercise. If you enjoy music and dance, you can do a good aerobic or dance workout at home in front of the mirror each day. This is low cost and a great deal of fun.
