Gomukha Asana (cow face posture)
Benefits
Gomukha Asana has a corrective effect upon all the major and minor joints of the body. It exercises the finger joints, the elbows, the shoulder joints, the toes, the ankles, the knees and the hip joints very effectively. It brings flexibility in the joints, strengthens the bones, increases the measurement of the chest and enhances the strength of the lungs and heart. All the muscles and nerves of various joints are toned up, activated and normalized.
Because of activation of the muscles, blood circulation is improved, leading to removal of the waste products. It restores the joint fluid and thereby removes spasticity and pain.
Note
The position of readiness for this asana might be very difficult to make for those arthritics whose knees, ankles and toes are severely affected. Such patients are advised to sit on the floor by simply folding the legs at the knees and keeping the spine straight.
Position of Readiness
Sit on the carpeted floor in a kneeling position. Keep the knees separated from one another by about four inches. Let the ankles and toes of both the legs fall on the floor in such a way that the toes are brought close to one another but the heels are upwards, spread out.
This will make an arch-like curve with the toes, soles and the heels. Then gradually put the whole weight of the body on the curve of the soles. Put the palms on the thighs.
Keep the spine and body straight, look in front at the level of your eyes and breathe normally. Slowly bring the right hand to the back. Bend it at the right elbow and then raise the back of the palm up towards the neck. In this process the back of the palm is pressed against the spine. The fingers of the right hand face upwards. Now fold the left hand at the elbow and raise it upwards by putting the left palm on the left shoulder. Then, first try to touch the fingers of the left hand with the right hand. If there is any difficulty in touching the fingers to some individuals, they should try as much as possible and then stay there. Now make a lock by folding the fingers of both the hands. Try to raise the elbow of the left hand straight upwards (with the lock). Breathe normally. This is a Gomukha Asana. Retain this locked position for about 30 sec. You can either hold the posture while the breath is held or you can try holding the posture while breathing gently through the nostrils. If you choose to breath, then hold the posture for thirty seconds to a minute.
While releasing the posture, loosen the grip on the fingers and then unlock the fingers gradually. Then slowly bring both the hands on the thighs and rest. Now repeat the same process by using left hand first.
Daily Practice
Repeat the Gomukha asana two to three times on each side.
Vriksha Asana (The Tree Posture)
Benefits
It tones up all the muscle of the ankles, toes, knees, hip joints, shoulder joints, elbows, hands and fingers. It brings flexibility to the hands and legs and enhances the measurement of the chest. It removes all the strains activating all the joints of the body.
Note
You have to stand up on one leg for practicing this asana. In case any difficulty; take the support of a wall or a pillow.
Position of Readiness
Stand up on a carpeted floor, look straight keeping the hands hanging loose on the sides. Breathe normally.
Steps
Stand up on the left leg and fold back the right leg at the knee. Bring the right foot on the left thigh so that the outer part of the heel and sole rest on the left thigh. This will twist the right foot a little and pres its side against the left thigh. Do not press the thigh with the heel but with its sides. Balancing on the left foot, raise both hands over the head and join the palms and fingers together. Then bring the palms on the head so that the wrists rest on the head.
Now try to give a backward pull on the folded elbows in order to bring them in one line. Look straight and tighten the leg you are standing on. Breathe normally. Stay in that position for 6 to 8 seconds.
Release the pose; bring the arms and right leg back tightly to their respective sides. Now grab the toes of the folded leg, lift it slightly upwards and then keep it on the floor. Rest for a few seconds and repeat on the opposite leg.
Daily Practice
Do it three times during the first week. Slowly increase up to six times a day.
Setubandha Asana (Bridge Pose)
Benefits
The main impact of this asana is on the spine and the hip joints. It also relieves pain and corrects disorders of the shoulder joints, neck, arms and the palms. It creates flexibility in the spine, for removing gastric troubles and for correcting respiratory disorders. It mainly strengthens the lower back and abdominal muscles and opens the chest.
It reduces anxiety, fatigue, backache, headache, and insomnia. Calms the brain and helps alleviate stress and mild depression. Also, stimulates abdominal organs, lungs, and thyroid. Helps relieve the symptoms of menopause relieves menstrual discomfort.
Note
Persons suffering from Neck injury, lumbar spondylitis, spinal and hip joint pain should consult yoga expert. Otherwise, arthritics in any condition and of any age can practice it.
Position of Readiness
Lie on your back on the carpeted floor with your arms at your sides, palms facing downward. Bend your knees, bringing the soles of your feet close to your buttocks. Look straight up. Breathe normally. Lift the hip and the waist upwards while keeping the shoulders and the feet on the floor. Take the support of the palms on both sides while doing this. Let the hands help in raising the waist upwards as high as it can be raised without strain. Support the body weight on the thumbs and the index fingers and the palms on the sides. Let the shoulders, neck and the head be firmly on the floor. Breathe normally. Stay in this position for 6 to 8 seconds.
Now start lowering the hip towards the floor while still supporting the body weight on the palms, but do not let the body drop on the floor. Bring it down slowly. When the hip, the waist and the back are on the floor put your palms on the floor on both sides of the body. Stretch out the legs on the floor and rest for two to three normal breaths.
After resting for a few seconds repeat the same process as you did during the first round.
Daily Practice
Do it four times daily during the first week. Gradually increase to maximum 6 rounds.

This morning I was reading an article from Arthritis Today about the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. The 2008 report was released because of a review on how physical activity benefits health. It is recommended to do a moderate workout for 130 to 150 minutes a week for the best physical and mental health benefits. This is not the interesting part, the best part of the articles is that the report points out arthritis is a condition that will improve with exercise!! This is fantastic news for anyone who is suffering from painful arthritis...it of course will be difficult at first but over time it will become easier. Arthritis Today suggests 3 ways to walk for individuals suffering from arthritis- it is a great way to meet the new guidelines, because its so easily adapted to the needs of the walker and can be effective for people at every level of fitness.
Below are the 3 Ways to Walk offered from the article found from Arthritis Today. Check out the article for more information!
3 Ways to Walk
From just starting out to power walking, great ways to get moving and get in shape
PROGRAM 1: GET OFF THE COUCH!
Starting a walking program is simple. “Just get going,” says Kevin R. Stone, MD, orthopaedic surgeon and founder of The Stone Clinic in San Francisco.
“Buy a good pair of shoes and start out on level ground at a comfortable pace.” If you experience pain, Dr. Stone recommends finding a pool and walking in waist-high water to start.
Beginner workout:
• To start, walk 10 minutes, at least three to five days a week, at an easypace until your muscles adjust to the new activity.
• Maintain good posture to avoid putting unnecessary strain on joints.
• Swing arms freely, step gently and avoid locking the knee joints.
• Stay close to home or in an area with benches to rest on, in case youbecome fatigued.
After a week, add five minutes to your walk, and keep adding five-minute increments weekly. Continue that progression, walking more frequently and increasingly longer at a faster speed and you’ll be on the way to meeting the minimum guidelines in no time.
PROGRAM 2: VARY YOUR SPEEDS
Try interval walking, incorporating short bursts of speed into a moderately paced walk, to burn more calories in the same amount of time. In a recent study from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, women who performed interval workouts lost three times as much body fat as women who exercised at a continuous pace.
Interval walking workout:
• Warm-up at a slow-to-moderate pace for 5 minutes.
• Walk at a moderate pace for one minute.
• Walk at a fast pace for 30 seconds.
• Return to a moderate pace for one minute.
• Repeat the cycle for the total length of your workout, at least 25 to 30 minutes (five days a week).
• Cool down at the end with a slow walk.
• Gradually extend the fast pace interval, until you’re doing one, then two and eventually three minutes each.
• Option: Walk a hilly route or use the “interval” setting on your treadmill.
PROGRAM 3: WORK YOUR WHOLE BODY
Power walking, at a pace of 3 to 4 miles per hour, is a great way to boost intensity. Walk a mile in about 15 to 20 minutes, tighten your core muscles and add arm movements, and you’ll burn as much as 400 calories during an hour.
FYI: Power walking is similar to race walking, but the latter is a sport with rules and regulations.
Power-walking workout:
• Warm up at a slow-to-moderate pace for 5 minutes.
• Increase to a moderate to fast pace, using short, quick steps, withoutlocking the knees.
• Use a heel-to-toe motion, starting with the heel, roll through the footbed and push off with your big toe.
• Keep your buttocks tight to engage your lower back muscles and pullin your core (abdominal) muscles.
• Bend your arms roughly 90 degrees, with fists loosely closed, and pump them back and forth, as if skiing.
• Maintain a consistent rhythm throughout your walk.
• Cool down at the end with a slow walk.

I know the secret to getting rid of arthritis pain forever and it is not taking drugs. A few years ago I accidentally discovered how to rid ones self of arthritis pain, naturally.
Osteoarthritis affects joints in a different way depending on their location in the body, causing various symptoms. Arthritis pain can be experienced whenever a stiff or swollen joint is used. The first step when looking for solutions to an arthritis pain problem is to understand how arthritis works.
Collagen is the essential protein in cartilage; it forms a mesh to give support and flexibility to the joint. The combination of the collagen meshwork and high water content tightly bound by proteoglycans, creates a resilient, slippery pad in the joint, which resists the compression between bones during muscle movement. Cartilage contains a high percentage of water, but it decreases with age.
Most experts now believe that osteoarthritis results from a genetic susceptibility that causes a biologic response to injuries to the joint, which leads to progressive deterioration of cartilage. Injuries sometimes can be the start in the arthritic disease process; osteoarthritis can develop years later even after a single traumatic injury to a joint or near a joint. The cause of arthritis (osteoarthritis) and the factors leading to the deterioration of cartilage in osteoarthritis is still not understood.
Making a ginger tea, by adding a thin slice or two of fresh gingerroot to hot water, is helpful to many people I know. A study in Great Britain touted the beneficial effects of cod liver oil on osteoarthritis; relieving pain and stiffness, and reversing the destruction of joint cartilage within 24 hours. For snacks, choose raw nuts without salt instead of lifeless roasted nuts.
Natural treatment for arthritis is usually a better choice because its non-invasive to the body. One natural treatment method involves avoiding all inflammatory foods. Dried Montmorency tart cherries seem to be helpful for arthritis pain also.
If you really want to get rid of your arthritis pain forever it may take a radical change in your diet and an ongoing commitment. Keep in mind, if you take a joint supplement it should help do three things build cartilage, relieve everyday joint pain, and enhance your flexibility and movement.
Make smoothies with fruit only using a base of two bananas, adding a cup of frozen or fresh blueberries and mango chunks or substitute any other fruit and add an energy boost of two tablespoons of coconut oil; add one or two leaves of kale for another highly nutritional boost no one will ever know. I eat a diet of living foods (fruits, raw veggies, raw nuts and raw seeds) to relieve my arthritis pain and this should be tried for at least 30 days, thus eliminating any foods that might be culprits.
There are a number of exercises which can benefit arthritis sufferers regardless of how much restriction of movement there is. Exercise your affected joints every day, to keep them flexible. If you have pain and swelling in your fingers, try squeezing Thera-putty made for this purpose or exercising with two Chinese chime balls. Exercise in a heated pool; it will help reduce the pressure on your joints and the heat will help you loosen those joints.
Sign up for water aerobics classes at your local community center. Even the lightest exercise can go a long way to maintaining your joint mobility and overall health. Important exercises for arthritis are range-of-motion exercises, isometrics, and some weight bearing exercises.
Once you become more informed about arthritis youll be able to plan an arthritis treatment program, natural or conventional or a combination of both. At the very least, understand what the side effects and adverse reactions are for any drug you take. Only you know which treatment option is best for you.
Once you understand the facts about arthritis, possible causes and treatment approaches you can take, youll be on your way to recovery and pain will disappear. Arthritis pain relief is the ultimate goal - understanding arthritis is a good way to get there. Changing your diet to predominately fruits and raw veggies, like I did, can turn your arthritis pain around almost overnight.

Use Taiji health balls, with the chimes, to strengthen the finger joints: hold two balls, move in a clockwise circle with your fingers to rotate them, then try counterclockwise and do throughout the day. To be on the safe side always seek your doctors advice before starting or changing your exercise program. Important exercises for arthritis are range-of-motion exercises, isometrics, and some weight bearing exercises. Try to keep painful joint areas in motion, even in a limited manner.

Newswise Taking a DHEA supplement combined with vitamin D and calcium can significantly improve spinal bone density in older women, according to a new study from a Saint Louis University scientist and his colleagues at Washington University.
The results of our study are very promising. Similar studies have demonstrated much smaller benefits for bone than we found. However, calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, which are present in half of older adults, may have prevented DHEA from improving bone density in the earlier studies, said Edward Weiss, Ph.D., associate professor of nutrition and dietetics at Saint Louis Universitys Doisy College of Health Sciences and lead author of the study.
In our study, we supplemented all participants with calcium and vitamin D to ensure that deficiencies were not present. This may explain why our study showed more favorable effects on bone density.
DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), a naturally occurring steroid hormone produced in the adrenal gland, gonads and brain, decreases with age. According to Weiss, low DHEA concentration has been associated with low bone density, which lead researchers to question whether restoring DHEA levels could improve or preserve bone health.
The two-year study divided men and women, ages 65 to 75 years old, into two groups. The first group received the DHEA supplement, vitamin D and calcium for two years. The control group received a placebo, vitamin D and calcium for the first year and then received the DHEA supplement the second year in place of the placebo.
The effects of the treatment differed for men and women. After the first year, women in the test group experienced an approximate 2 percent increase in bone density, while women in the control group did not see an increase. After the second year when both groups took the DHEA supplement, women in the test group experienced an additional 2 percent increase for a total of approximately 4 percent, while women who switched from placebo to DHEA also experienced an approximate 2 percent increase.
The same treatment, however, did not offer similar benefits for older men. Instead, men in both the test and control groups experienced a 1 to 2 percent increase in spinal bone density. According to researchers, the results suggest that vitamin D and calcium supplements, which were give to both groups, could be responsible for the increase in bone density.
The results of the study are promising for older women. According to Weiss, patients who achieve similar increases of 2 to 4 percent in spinal bone density with the help of medication experience a 30 to 50 percent reduction in risk of spine fractures.
Further, researchers say that the increase in spinal bone density experienced by women in the test group who took DHEA for two years, is at least as effective as other current therapies including estrogen and bisphosphonates, a class of prescription drugs that increases bone density.
However, like other therapies, the benefits of DHEA supplements were limited to spinal bone density. Neither men nor women experienced an improvement in hip bone density. Weiss says the hip may respond more slowly to bone-enhancing therapies than the spine, thus requiring more time to see a beneficial effect. More research is needed though.
In addition to its beneficial effects on bone, DHEA replacement may have other benefits including improvements in risk factors for diabetes and heart disease, improvements in immune function, and improvements in psychological health, Weiss said.
While the research findings are promising, Weiss says that people should consult with their doctor before taking DHEA, which is an over-the-counter dietary supplement.
Although DHEA is generally considered safe for consumption at 50 mg per day, it increases estrogen and testosterone levels which in turn could increase cancer risk, Weiss explained. Therefore, DHEA supplementation should be avoided in men and women who have had cancer or who have a strong family history of cancer until further research can establish whether or not it is safe for these individuals.
The study was funded with grants from the NIH, NIH General Clinical Research Center and NIH Clinical Nutrition Research Unit. Findings were published in the May 2009 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Study coauthors include Krupa Shah, Luigi Fontana, Charles P. Lambert, John O. Holloszy and Dennis Villareal.

Do you know HOW to flirt?
Do you know if you ARE flirting?
The following actions are considered to be REAL flirting indicators - check them out and see if you're sending (and receiving) the right message:
How to tell she likes you:
She gazes in your eyes with deep interest and her pupils are dilated.
Her skin tone becomes red while being around you.
She raises or lowers the volume of her voice to match yours.
She rubs her chin or touches her cheek. This indicates that she's thinking about you and her relating in some way...
Plays with her jewelry, especially with stroking and pulling motions.
She winks at you while talking to you or winks at you from a distance.
She exposes the palms of her hand facing you.
Biting of the lips or showing of the tongue, licking her lips or touching of her front teeth...
She starts sitting straight up and her muscles appear to be firm.
She puts her fingernail between her teeth.
She laughs in unison with you.
She touches your arm, shoulder, thigh, or hand while talking to you.
She twirls her hair around her fingers while she is looking at you.
Her crossed leg is pointed towards you or if that same leg is rocking back and forth towards you.
While talking to you, she rest an elbow in the palm of one hand, while holding out her other hand, palm up.
In a crowd she speaks only to you and focuses all of her undivided attention on you.
While talking to you, she blinks more than usual, fluttering her eyelashes.
Big smiles with upper and lower teeth showing with a relaxed face.
She speeds up or slows down her speaking to match yours.
Eyebrows raised and then lowered, then a smile usually indicates interest in you.
She rubs her wrists up and down

A while back I followed, generally, a low-fat, high-carb diet. Ornish and McDougall are doctors who have promoted this type diet for their patients and have achieved dramatic results conquering heart disease and other diseases. So I got into the habit of using water instead of oil for sauteeing, reducing fat in many ways. I was a nice weight and I had energy and most importantly my arthritis did not bother me much. But over time I let the fat back in. Not to mention other items, like white bread.
I remember several years ago when my then-tenant brought in a big bottle of olive oil and gave it to me. I wondered how long it would take me to use it up, because I simply did not use that much. Over time, though, I started using it rather lavishly, taking to heart the messages that this or that oil is "good" fat, and olive oil certainly was in that category.
Spurred on by my daughter's and son-in-law's recent attendance at a McDougall seminar, I decided to go back. Since then I have waxed and waned, given what I had to deal with (travel, for example), but now I am settling in with a fairly standard McDougall diet. I have two of his books (which include recipes) and have also looked up additional recipes online, and of course it is not difficult to convert a lot of dishes.
The good news is that I am in fact losing weight. I need to lose it to take pressure off my joints and thus stand a chance at relieving my arthritis. The bad news is that the pain persists. Right now I am suffering from hip pain that extends down my leg and often into my right foot as well. Walking has become painful much of the time, and the pain is sometimes not relieved all day long. In spite of eating quite healthily I still hurt.
So now I am considering doing an elimination diet for one week. This diet removes all likely allergens - for that may be what is going on - and if a food is a culprit in the inflammation this diet should show it up. After a week I should notice significant pain reduction.
It will be a challenge but the good part - the second good part - is that with McDougall plans there is no calorie counting, no portion control. I can eat when I want as much as I want. The food as a rule is filling but low-fat and generally low-calorie as well.
There are some things I have on hand that need to be eaten up so I may not achieve the full elimination diet the first day.
Have a look at the McDougall newsletter that explains this diet and lists the foods in it.

With the signing of the economic stimulus bill, there has been a rush to identify “shovel ready” jobs. But, behind the scenes, business and government leaders are grappling with the problems of being “people ready” for the millions of green jobs that will be created through the investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Meanwhile, job seekers, anxious and excited about the prospect of a lifeline into a new career, are finding it difficult and confusing to identify and determine the qualifications needed for a sustainable jobs. Many find, after navigating the waves of information about the green jobs, they end up with far more questions than answers.
An ebook released by www.TheCompleteGreenJobGuide.com identifies the challenges and solutions for green job hunters trying to make the transition to a sustainable job. “The Complete Green Job Guide 2009: Secrets For Getting The Job You Want is the most up-to-date green job search resource available.
Experts agree that the money allocated thus far for training falls far short of that needed to meet the demands for skilled workers trying to make a green job transition in the coming years. In fact, research conducted by National Renewable Energy Lab (http://www.nrel.gov/) shows the major barriers to a rapid adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency are insufficient skills and training in America’s workforce.
It is important to understand that momentum for green energy has been building for several years. After almost thirty years of debating the issues, government, business, financial and environmental experts agree that the conversion to sustainable energy is a necessity. The message is clear: we must act now. And those who act on their own to adapt to the new job market will have limitless opportunities in a green energy economy.
With the support of government and business, green energy is poised to provide the largest growth in employment opportunities of recent decades. Statistics prove the green job movement has already started.
• The American Solar Energy Society (http://www.ases.org/) reported that nearly 8.5 million jobs were created in renewable energy and energy-efficient industries in 2006. By 2030, that number will sky rocket to 40 million. In twenty years, one in four workers will be in a green energy job.
• The online job site, Career Builders (http://www.careerbuilder.com/ ), reports that thirteen percent of employers they surveyed said they plan to add “green jobs” in 2009, up thirty percent from the previous year.
• Several studies estimate that $1 invested in renewable energy or energy efficiency would yield up to four times as many jobs as $1 invested in oil and gas.
In his pre-inaugural speech on the economy, then President-elect Obama outlined the reasons for investing in sustainable alternatives when he spoke of the paradox and the promise. “So many are in need of work and there is so much work to be done.” It will take an army of workers—an estimated 5 million—from all backgrounds to begin the work to build viable alternative energy sources; retrofit our homes, offices, schools and hospitals for energy efficiency; improve and expand mass transportation; build fuel efficient cars and trucks, and develop biofuels.
For many, the big question remains unanswered. That is how to be competitive in the green job market? With information scattered throughout agencies, it is difficult to understand the qualifications needed to qualify for the cleantech jobs, what businesses are emerging in this new market that will create sustainable jobs, and how to conduct an effective green job search.

Few mothers describe the birthing process as stressful, more often than not, mothers describe it as exciting and happy. The long awaited arrival is about to make their entrance and mother and child will at least be united. There is only one thing that could ruin this excitement, a problem with the baby.
Labor and pain go hand and hand during the birthing process. No one ever says how pleasant their labor and birth was, at least no one who did it naturally. Before you write off natural child birth all together consider the following, every year newborns suffer side effects from epidurals during birth. While not every child will have these problems, there is no guarantee yours will or wont have them.
Epidural fever is an infection that 30% of newborns whose mothers use epidurals will suffer. The illness is much like an infection and doctors treat it by immediately isolating the baby and administering IV antibiotics. Other fetuses will be at risk for a lower heart rate, decreased oxygen levels and emergency c-sections all due to the mothers body reaction to the anesthesia. If the mother has problems with the epidural, most likely the baby will as well. If the baby continues being exposed to a stressed mother, often the doctor will order a c-section which will only include using more drugs therefore increasing the odds that your child will be exposed to side effects.
Another test which can be effected by epidural use is one of the most important, the APGAR test. This test is administered one minute after birth and again at five minutes after. The APGAR evaluates the babys breathing, coloring, activity, pulse and grimace. Epidurals can create false positive results in newborns mainly in the breathing category. Because of low or increased heart rates in the womb, the newborn is prone to abnormal respirations and pulse readings which can cause the doctors to worry. Under natural birthing conditions these abnormal readings would be cause for concern, however if the mother is using an epidural there is no way of knowing if there is truly something wrong or if it is a false alarm.
Many mothers who use epidurals who hear the low readings from the APGAR test, become anxious and panic causing even more stress to their bodies. Many women reported to birthingnatually.net, that they experience tremendous anxiety when hearing the low test scores until they hear the second higher reading. Mothers also reported that they felt more like a spectator when giving birth with epidurals instead of actually being in labor and birthing a baby.
Every woman has the right to choose which birthing method works best for them. However no method is completely safe. Even with natural child birth there are risks and problems. Everyday you are faced with risks, once you are a mother, the risks will only continue to come, few times will you have a choice, and it seems senseless to expose a fetus to medication side effects when the side effects of natural child birth are generally pain and discomfort.

Creating your own herbal medicament could be elaborate and somewhat unsafe since a lot of of the herbs have serious or unexpected side-effects. So anybody curious would be wise not to attempt to do so but to look into the herbal medicinal stock of the closest herbal practitioner or provider. Amongst other things a number of creams and salves are made from herbs.
A lot of of the herbs and their therapeutic properties do now appear rather fanciful. The very few named below are included for their interest value, you are not actually advised to sample them as a remedy for your health issues without the qualified opinion and advice of your herbalist or health care provider.
Agrimony. This is an ancient medicinal herbaceous plant. The Greeks employed it to cure cataract. In Britain, several centuries later, it was produced into a spring tonic and a blood purifier good for those with afflicted liver. Agrimony was also made into an emollient called arquebused and applied to injures imposed by an arquebus, a hand-held gun.
Betony. This was ground into a cream together with animal fat (hog) and used to sooth burns.
Borage. Even in Roman times, borage had the repute of being a cheering, encouraging plant in Plinys words brings always courage.
Chervil. This is yet additional herb which the Romans brought into Europe from the lands of the Mediterranean. in England in the fifteen century it was an all-important plant, and it stayed in favor. For John Gerad, chervil made salads that excelled in wholesomeness for the cold and feeble stomach. The cooked roots (boiled) were a protective against plague. It could be consumed to cure the hiccups, and its leaves soothed the pain of rheumatism and contusions.
Elder. Elderflowers water has been accepted as a relieve for colds for many centuries.
Fennel. The Greeks thought very high of fennel and employed it for slimming and for addressing more than twenty different illnesses. The Romans ate it-root, leaf and seed-in salads and baked bread and cakes. In Aglo-Saxon times it was utilized on fasting days presumably because, as the Greeks had already discovered, it stilled the pangs of hunger. Even in later centuries it was much used in drink to make people more lean that are too fat.
Horehound. The Greeks thought also highly of this herb and used it as an antispasmodic drug. It was an antidote for the bite of mad dog and this is how it got its common name.

Almost every second man suffers from some disorder which prevents him from leading a normal sex life. Yet, by far not all of those men turn to specialists for help. The reason is purely psychological, since many men are afraid to admit that they have a problem in the area, and fear that friends, acquaintances, and of course women will find it out somehow. However, by consulting the doctor in time one can not only stay healthy but also fix sexual relationships, without which he will not fell completely like a man. So, what are they, the most common male .

Managing pet pain has always been a challenge because cats, dogs and other animals cant say where or how much it hurts. Beyond that communication gap, animals, especially cats, often hide their pain.
In the past 10 years, however, veterinarians have focused on pain relief for pets and managing pain in companion animals will be one of the two or three defining issues of veterinary medicine in the first half of the 21st century, said William Tranquilli, a professor of veterinary clinical medicine at the University of Illinois in Urbana.
Many of the questions we as anesthesiologists are asked on a daily basis are about pain and anxiety, added Alicia Karas, assistant professor of anesthesiology at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, Massachusetts, and a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia.
Owner concern and their own interest in animals has led anesthesiologists, surgeons and intensive-care veterinarians to look more closely at animals in pain and try to do a better job of recognizing and treating it.

4 joints), and systemic-onset or Stills disease. The latter is associated with significant internal organ involvement and may also present with fever and rash in addition to joint disease. Polyarticular JRA is considered to be the type that is most similar to adult RA, and is responsible for approximately 30% of cases of JRA. Most children with polyarticular JRA are negative for RF and their prognosis is usually good. Roughly, 20% of polyarticular JRA patients will have elevated RF, and these patients appear to be at more risk for chronic, progressive joint destruction and damage. Uveitis- an inflammatory condition of the eye- is a common finding in oligoarticular JRA, especially in patients who are antinuclear antibody (ANA) positive. The dangerous feature of uveitis is that it can cause relatively few symptoms so careful screening is recommended in order to avoid blindness.

Does your bathroom resemble the bathroom of your childhood? Does it have the same unappealing colors, cold tile floors and dated decor as the day you bought the house?
If your bathroom is stuck in the ‘60s, ‘70s and even ‘80s, then it’s time to upgrade. But don’t worry, you can transform it into a modern day showplace on a budget. Here are some tips to get you started:
Apply a fresh coat of paint
Nothing cleans up damaged and dingy walls better than a new color. Because the bathroom is a high-humidity area that is also enclosed, look for paints that are mildew-resistant but don’t contain harsh chemicals. Be a little artistic with your painting as well. Find textured paints to create barely-there patterns on the walls, or use two different paint tints to create shading or bold contrasting wall colors.
Update your hardware
Bathroom faucets and accessories have evolved over the decades, and style is the new design. Today’s products are able to match tastes ranging from exquisite vintage to ultra modern so you can transform your out-dated style into something perfect for a guest bath, master bath or children’s fun bathroom. Visit Faucet.com to find the right style for you.
Change your lighting
A single light fixture or a worn-out overhead lamp just doesn’t give a bathroom the illumination or style you need. A properly-lit bathroom provides comfort, charm, fashion and function. You may need lights above the sink or wall sconces to illuminate any dark shadows. Find all the latest lighting styles at LightingShowplace.com.
Bring comfort into the shower
A new massaging shower head is vital to making your shower inviting. Accompany the new fixture with a beautiful curtain and curved shower rod to match the rest of the room’s decor. Look for curtains that do not contain vinyl or PVC materials, because a 2008 study found vinyl curtains contain many toxic chemicals which can be released into the air when opened and hung. But don’t block out all that new light you just installed. Use a shower curtain that allows light into the tub area.
Warm up the floor
Don’t forget the cringe you feel every time you step onto your cold bathroom floor. If the tile is in good shape, or you don’t have the finances to install radiant heat throughout the bathroom, try a decorative rug instead to keep your feet warm. You can forget about the old shag carpets with rubber backing. The styles, shapes and colors available are endless, in materials ranging from cotton to wool. Find a theme carpet for your children’s bathroom, or a beautiful bouquet of flowers to spice up your guest bathroom. To find your style, visit RugShowplace.com.
“You will be better able to enjoy your bathroom once you get it brought into the 21st century,” says Daniel Auer from Faucet.com, a leading online retailer of decorative plumbing products. “And you can find the necessary items for your remodel quickly by shopping online while saving money at the same time.
