Jeb Bush, ex-governor of the state of Florida, has said previously on several occasions that he was not going to run for prezident of the United States.

Who could blame him, considering that his brother, George W., is the most disliked prezident in history and was such a massive failure that the history books will need to be greatly expanded just to summarize all his dirty deeds and his incomprehensible stupidity?

But blood, as they say, is thicker than water, and Jeb is a chip off the old block, as they also say, and daddy thinks he should run and would be a good prezident, so now it appears that Jeb may be considering, God help us!, to offer himself to the American people as a candidate for the White House.

According to Deeky at Shakesville, "Recent robocalls to Iowa asked potential voters which of the following they'd most likely vote for: Huckabee, Palin, Gingrich, Jindal, or Jeb Bush ... "

What a group, huh? Huckabee, the self-anointed spokesperson for God and righteousness, who believes in a fundamentalist Christian theocratic state; Palin, who's too damn stupid to walk upright without help; serial adulterer and now convert to the Roman Catholic institution, the ever nasty Grinch, Gingrich; Jindal, another convert to Roman Catholicism who does exorcisms in his spare time, never letting his substantial intellect get in the way of pious religious extremism...and then there's Jeb Bush.

You might think Jeb is less likely to lead America into a nuclear holocaust because he doesn't have a stupid grin on his face all the time like his dumber brother, but don't be fooled. Jeb is a dyed-in-the-wool right wing fanatic, and another Roman Catholic convert who tends toward theocracy, dogmatism and reliance on authority - his!

As governor of Florida, he screwed up the entire educational enterprise with a system of testing that did nothing but dumb down the school population. He was also a vociferous fighter for vouchers so parents could send their kids to private (read religious, read Catholic) schools on the public's dime. He further fought for the right of the religious right to impose their non-scientific "Intelligent Design" crap on our high school students - you know, on the basis that students ought to know about different interpretations as to how life came to be.

Jeb was also a big fan of providing private entrepreneurs (of which he is one, with the help of moneyed friends!) the ability to dip their grubby little hands into the public pot...and so we have, in part, a private prison system, which doesn't seem to have worked out too well!

Under Jeb, the rich got richer and the poor got poorer, 'cause the rich were granted the right to pay less taxes and the state's infrastructure went to hell -- Florida's bridges are, in truth, falling down.

And, well, we don't even want to begin to talk about 2000!

Jeb is just another Bush in a suit sans cowboy hat. He carries all the elitist baggage of the Bush family and if you haven't yet read Russ Baker's Family of Secrets - The Bush Dynasty, The Powerful Forces That Put It In The White House, And What Their Influence Means For America, get thyself to a bookstore!

You may think George was a nightmare. Jeb will make that nightmare look like a pleasant dream!

But, hey, Daddy think's he's a "good" man and would be a "good" prezident. The problem with that is that Daddy doesn't know the different between good and goofus.

I have been lost in the woods, or desert, mall, etc. a time or two, and one of the principles of land navigation that is vitally important is that when you first get the sense that you are going in the wrong direction, that you might be lost, STOP! If you can go back to where you last knew where you were, do so. This is also true spiritually. When we figure out that we are in sin, that we have strayed from God’s will, we need to stop, and return to Christ.

This can be as simple as going back to reading the Bible and praying regularly, going back to church and fellowshipping with the Body of Christ, or going back from heresy to sound doctrine, quitting a sinful habit and going back to purity and obedience, etc. Abram went back to Bethel and his last altar.

If we stop and think for just a little while, I believe we could all                                                                                                                       think of a few times in our life when we did what Abram did. We lost our faith somewhat; we got impatient with God and struck out in our own way, going down a path of our own choosing. Look back at your life and you will see those sinful detours that brought us far from Bethel and into Egypt.
Obviously some sinful detours are worse than others in that the sin has greater negative impact on more people or a greater impact upon our life. But all the sinful detours take us further from where God wants to lead us. If we take a sinful detour early in life that is quite severe, we can mess up our future quite a bit. Let me illustrate it this way: if you are athletic as a teenager but then take up smoking and drinking booze, you get out of school and stop training as an athlete, you dont eat right and you gain weight, by the time you are in your late twenties guess what? You can no longer do what you used to do physically. If you continue in a bad lifestyle into your thirties and forties, some health problems start to arise. By the time you are in your 50s you suddenly realize that life is passing you by and you try to get back in shape but guess what? You have lost so much that you cannot get back in shape. The decisions of the years have taken their toll on your body to the extent that you have lost many abilities. Sin will do that to you, the longer you stay in sin, the greater your loss of spiritual capabilities. This is especially true for the believer, for the church member.

Years and years of undisciplined spiritual life, years of spiritual lukewarmness and apathy, years of allowing small sins to rule your life such as a critical spirit, rebellion, resistance to the leadership of the spirit, lack of exercising your spiritual gifts, and all of a sudden you wake up one day and see the sorry state of your spiritual life and you try to fix things up a little bit, but you discover that you no longer have a desire for the richer things of God, you no longer have the spiritual abilities you once had. Step by step, like Abram, you have wandered out of the Promised Land into Egypt. Entire churches have made this shameful journey, or at least a sizeable chunk of a congregation has made that journey.

What do you do if you wake up and find yourself in spiritual Egypt? How do you get back to where God wants you? How can we return to our first love- Christ?

Vs. 4 Abram called upon the name of the LORD. I have previously discussed this phrase so I will just summarize it here. It is more than just praying, it is worship, intercession, proclamation, sacrifice and instruction. Abram is here serving as priest over his family, hired men, servants and slaves. He is seeking the God who called him out of Ur, out of Haran, and brought him to this land, promising him the land and descendants. Abram returns to the God he loves.

There is some similarity with Abram coming out of Egypt and worshipping the LORD and the Israelites of Moses’ day coming out of Egypt to worship Him Ex.3:12.

Returning to God is a theme that runs throughout Scripture. Deut. 30:1-10; 2Chron. 7:14; 30:6-9; Neh.1:8-9; Hosea 6:1-3; Joel 2:12-14; Rev. 2:1-7.
How do we return to our first love?
1. Understand who our first love is. If the love of our life is not Christ, is not our Creator and Redeemer, the Triune God of Holy Scripture, then we love the wrong thing and we are guilty of idolatry. Heb.12:2 let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith Mark 12:30 Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
2. Accept the rebuke that makes us aware of our sin. God rebuked Abram through Pharaoh. 2Tim.3:16 All scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness I think that in most churches the idea of a biblical rebuke is long sense gone. With a loss of church discipline, sound doctrine, biblical church polity and leadership, most Christians lead lives that are rebuke free. If we are going to be the body of Christ we need to be open to being rebuked when we stray and we need to have the courage to rebuke, in love, those in our close fellowship who are straying. Are we humble enough to be rebuked biblically? If we are in Egypt we need to accept rebuke because that will send us back to Beth-el, back to where we last worshipped God.
3. Accepting Correction- the rebuke lets us know we have done wrong, the correction shows us how to get back on the right track. Correction is the process of God giving us a plan for how to get back into his will. Most people do not like being corrected any more than they like getting rebuked. It requires humility and a teachable heart and a willingness to change. This all assaults our pride. There are some folks who need to listen to correction but absolutely will not. That is true in most churches. To the extent that uncorrectable people populate a church, to that extent the church suffers, slows down, does not prosper or grow. A church that accepts biblical rebuke and correction from Gods word is a teachable and flexible church that will change and grow and become healthy. By the way, this is one reason we have Care Groups in Redeemer Church; so that we can biblically rebuke and correct one another in the context of loving relationships.
4. Returning to Christ- Repentance is the key! Accept the rebuke, confess the sin, accept the correction, come to Him in faith and he will accept you again. Luke 15:11The Prodigal Son. We return to the person of Christ, not a mere program or just to church. We return to our first love- Christ. We return not just to get more blessings, but we return to know him, to serve him, to imitate him and give him praise and glory. We return to Christ to Make Him Known! It is not about us and our pitiful, whining, feel sorry for ourselves, pity party. We return to him because he bids us come to him, and die to self. In Egypt Abram’s focus was on self and it caused trouble, now, back at Bethel his focus is once again on God as he returns to his altar and returns to worshiping God.

In conclusion let me quote verse 3 of the great hymn, “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

O to grace how great a debtor Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let they grace, Lord, like a fetter, Bind my wandring heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love.
Here’s my heart, Lord, take and seal it, Seal it for Thy courts above

Its long been a mystery why the French, who eat a diet high in calories and fat, typically live longer and healthier lives than Americans now we know it may be that they drink so much wine thats the answer.
This isnt coincidental. The real answer appears to be a phytoalexin compound called resveratrol. Resveratrol is produced by some plants, mainly in the skins of fruit, to guard against bacteria and infection, and is a powerful antioxidant.
But scientists werent entirely sure that the levels of resveratrol the French were getting from their diet was high enough to fully explain the paradox.
In nearly all cases in the lab, administering resveratrol produced benefits basically without fail. The lucky mice who were given resveratrol lived longer, but thats just one part of it. They also had more energy and more lean muscle than their counterparts.
Hold on, thats only half the story
For example, a group of mice who had been genetically engineered to have diabetes had their blood glucose levels moderate to just slight above normal after taking resveratrol.
The results were dramatic enough even if no one claimed they had found a for diabetes that increased human testing was warranted.
Of course it couldnt be long before the internet started to play a part. Im sure youre at least aware of the glowing reports that have been describing resveratrol as a true wonder drug that will change the world.
Does it warrant all this attention?
It just may. The hype and promises surrounding resveratrol make it pretty hard to live up to. The fountain of youth that weve been searching for throughout history is, alas, just a myth.
But perhaps, just perhaps, resveratrol comes as close as we can hope to get.
So, at least in my opinion, its worth taking the time to look into it. Drug purity laws of course dont apply to resveratrol or other supplements theyre not but instead are nutrional supplements.
When you buy resveratrol, just as when you buy any supplement, you simply need to put a few safeguards in place to make sure what youre getting is quality. It takes time and effort to get resveratrol because it all has to be harvested from plants theres no way to synthesize it yet. Which means that resveratrol supplements tend to vary in quality, along with their price.
Before you ask, trying to get nutritionally and clinically significant amounts of resveratrol from your food sources is almost impossible - the most concentrated form of resveratrol found in a typical diet is in dark red wine, and youd have to drink about 3 liters a day of the stuff to get the comparable dose fed to lab mice.
So supplementation is going to have to be the way to go. But to begin with, what should you look for in good resveratrol supplements?
What you should look for in a resveratrol supplier is something that doesnt contain a lot of unnecessary fillers. Store your resveratrol supplements in proper conditions, because they can break down if kept in intense heat or very bright light.
The very first thing I would recommend is to go over to the resveratrol supplements review pages that I link to below, where youll find constantly updated reviews. You should also take a few minutes to watch the videos there they have some directions for how to get free samples of resveratrol. This is good stuff. So its definitely better than a haphazard trial and error process, and it just might wind up saving you a decent amount of money.
Just to sum up, whichever resveratrol supplements you choose to take, understand that its only a part of a health maintenance system. Excerise, a health diet and some attention to your emotional health are still important.
Dont take resveratrol expecting it to work miracles on its own. You still have to live a reasonably health lifestyle to experience the true benefits. In other words, dont abuse your body and expect resveratrol to make it okay.

Electronic Medical Records Sorely Needed NationwideLack of communication among physicians leads to duplications of tests,
unnecessary investigations, and fragmentation of care, which amount to
billions of wasted dollars each year and lead to mistakes, the
prescribing of inappropriate medications, and poor medical care. With

Extra Monitors Make Blood Sugar Testing EasierAccording to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), one of the most common complaints doctors hear from patients is the hassle and inconvenience of checking blood glucose levels frequently. Therefore, docs orders to check more often may fall on deaf ears for those patients who experience more complications than average. One easy and surprisingly low-cost solution is to simply pick up a few extra monitors. Three should do the trick: one monitor by the bed for nighttime and early-morning testing, one in the kitchen for testing before or immediately after meals, and one at the office. However, be careful about keeping monitors in the car: Extreme temperature can impair the accuracy of both the device and testing strips. Glucose monitor-makers often provide the devices free or at very low cost. Talk to your doctor about which type of glucose monitoring device is best for you.

For the next 4 days, I’ll be writing about my students through their eyes, through mine, and then through your eyes, hoping that maybe we can grow from our limited thinking about our own students (myself included) and start to have real discussion, uncensored. Let’s get into it, shall we?
He wakes up in the morning, glasses thick, sullied, and intact. Hes bit heavy set, and has a naiveté uncommon to his rather humble surroundings. His apartments full of roaches and other creatures he never sees when he turns the knobs on his TV. Fox: Family Ties. Ahh, nice brown house. Familys there with the mom, dad, and their siblings. Cosby Show: Dad and mom. Nice house. Bunch of siblings. Everythings nice and works out in the end. Family Feud: 4-5 members of the family, all smiles. Superficial and fun competition in which they embrace openly. He wonders where his mom and him fall in that spectrum of what TV promotes as a healthy family. He stops scratching his head and gets to playing video games, for he feels more akin to plumbers in fantasy lands and turtles mutated from a sewer than this wholesome image portrayed on TV.
After all, these are all escapist mind frames.
He goes to school, and excels as you can expect. He behaves well for the most part. And teachers cater to him because, well, hes the smart kid. With time, hes told hes special because of his academic abilities, and so the quarantining begins. Its in the adults mind frame that now this child has to come home extremely early, stay away from anyone who doesnt even appear smart or doesnt share the same interest, check in with an older cousin even when they may not really trust that person either, and worst of all, dont touch any person of the opposite sex because, indirectly, that would lead to that deadly disease of pregnancy.
But eventually he grows up, makes it through public school, through private school, through and gets a really good job somewhere out in a city people in his neighborhood hasnt heard of but the moneys somewhere in the 60K-80K range.
Success story right?
After 20+ years of raising him right, whats the first thing people do when they see him? Point to a and say, See? Why cant you be like that?!
We often stand there hypocritically and use these academic luminaries to set some really high and inequitable standard for many students when we use words like and (Is it because most of us are him or her?) We cant complain about how badly our students do on statewide exams and, in the same line of thinking, hold our students to the same standard for their personal achievement as the next, right? Just because theyre both culturally similar doesnt mean they have the exact same rate of success.
There are indeed likelihoods that certain populations wont do well versus the other, but lets be real: if Im looking at my kids and the statistics against their success, were looking at a barrage of obstacles for them to overcome to become that story we so often like to laud. What are the chances that a student growing up in poverty makes it through K-12, middle school, high school, and college without incident, accident, prejudice, or mishap? How many people do they have for them modeling the behaviors that they need to succeed? Do our students have the wherewithal to weather the psychological damage abject poverty, going from foster home to foster home, or watching your first person shot up on the block? Hmmm?
How many people, places, enforcers, and institutions through that path serve as oppressors to that childs ability rather than enhancers and supporters of their abilities? Or how about those that inflate that childs ability to the point where they forget to take care of the small things that matter, like developing good work habits and treating others respectfully? Many students, who may have tons of potential, encounter more people and types than they ever might have imagined when they started out in a rug fitting blocks into spaces with that one teacher at the center. Thus, the combination to that lock of success gets more complex, and far too many of our students barely make it through year 10 of this crazy process we call schooling.
Chances are, that aforementioned student, who everyone called the exception to the rule, actually proves the rule with his / her existence. For without him / her, we may think that ones surroundings have little to do with how well a person does, right? Right.
And when he or she makes it through the possible culture shock of 120+ students in a Greco-Roman inspired room, more than 1/2 of whom can easily afford to be there, with loans up to their eyeballs, will they believe in this idea of uniqueness and isolate themselves from people whom they once called friends and thus indirectly extracting them from people who they shared so much in common with before this college-ification?
Where does someone step in and give the student a little token called humility and say, Keep it with you. This never runs out, and use it whenever it feels right..

You dont need to eat yogurt and live on a mountaintop, but you do  need to floss

The biggest factor that determines how well you age is not your genes but how well you live. Not convinced? A new study published in the British Medical Journal of 20,000 British folks shows that you can cut your risk of having a stroke in half by doing the following four things: being active for 30 minutes a day, eating five daily servings of fruit and vegetables, and avoiding cigarettes and excess alcohol.
While those are some of the obvious steps you can take to age well, researchers have discovered that centenarians tend to share certain traits in how they eat, move about, and deal with stress-the sorts of things we can emulate to improve our own aging process. Of course, getting to age 100 is enormously more likely if your parents did. Still, Thomas Perls, who studies the century-plus set at Boston University School of Medicine, believes that assuming youve sidestepped genes for truly fatal diseases like Huntingtons, s nothing stopping you from living independently well into your 90s. Heck, if your parents and grandparents were heavy smokers, they might have died prematurely without ever reaching their true potential lifespan, so go ahead and shoot for those triple digits. Follow these 10 habits, and check out Perls lifetime risk calculator to see how long you can expect to live.
1. Dont retire. Evidence shows that in societies where people stop working abruptly, the incidence of obesity and chronic disease skyrockets after retirement, says Luigi Ferrucci, director of the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging. The Chianti region of Italy, which has a high percentage of centenarians, has a different take on leisure time. After people retire from their jobs, they spend most of the day working on their little farm, cultivating grapes or vegetables, he says. re never really inactive. Farming isnt for you? Volunteer as a docent at your local art museum or join the Experience Corps, a program offered in 19 cities that places senior volunteers in urban public elementary schools for about 15 hours a week.
2. Floss every day. That may help keep your arteries healthy. A 2008 New York University study showed that daily flossing reduced the amount of gum-disease-causing bacteria in the mouth. This bacteria is thought to enter the bloodstream and trigger inflammation in the arteries, a major risk factor for heart disease. Other research has shown that those who have high amounts of bacteria in their mouth are more likely to have thickening in their arteries, another sign of heart disease. I really do think people should floss twice a day to get the biggest life expectancy benefits, stresses Perls.
3. Move around. Exercise is the only real fountain of youth that exists, says Jay Olshansky, a professor of medicine and aging researcher at the University of Illinois at Chicago. s like the oil and lube job for your car. You dont have to do it, but your car will definitely run better. Study after study has documented the benefits of exercise to improve your mood, mental acuity, balance, muscle mass, and bones. And the benefits kick in immediately after your first workout, Olshansky adds. Dont worry if youre not a gym rat. Those who see the biggest payoffs are the ones who go from doing nothing to simply walking around the neighborhood or local mall for about 30 minutes a day. Building muscle with resistance training is also ideal, but yoga classes can give you similar strength-training effects if youre not into weight lifting.
4. Eat a fiber-rich cereal for breakfast. Getting a serving of whole-grains, especially in the morning, appears to help older folks maintain stable blood sugar levels throughout the day, according to a recent study conducted by Ferrucci and his colleagues. Those who do this have a lower incidence of diabetes, a known accelerator of aging, he says.
5. Get at least six hours of shut-eye. Instead of skimping on sleep to add more hours to your day, get more to add years to your life. Sleep is one of the most important functions that our body uses to regulate and heal cells, says Ferrucci. ve calculated that the minimum amount of sleep that older people need to get those healing REM phases is about six hours. Those who reach the century mark make sleep a top priority.
6. Consume whole foods, not supplements. Strong evidence suggests that people who have high blood levels of certain nutrients-selenium, beta-carotene, vitamins C and E-age much better and have a slower rate of cognitive decline. Unfortunately, theres no evidence that taking pills with these nutrients provides those antiaging benefits. There are more than 200 different carotenoids and 200 different flavonoids in a single tomato, points out Ferrucci, and these chemicals can all have complex interactions that foster health beyond the single nutrients we know about like lycopene or vitamin C. Avoid nutrient-lacking white foods (breads, flour, sugar) and go for all those colorful fruits and vegetables and dark whole-grain breads and cereals with their host of hidden nutrients.
7. Be less neurotic. It may work for Woody Allen, who infuses his worries with a healthy dose of humor, but the rest of us neurotics may want to find a new way to deal with stress. We have a new study coming out that shows that centenarians tend not to internalize things or dwell on their troubles, says Perls. They are great at rolling with the punches. If this inborn trait is hard to overcome, find better ways to manage when youre stressed: Yoga, exercise, meditation, tai chi, or just deep breathing for a few moments are all good. Ruminating, eating chips in front of the TV, binge drinking? Bad, very bad.
8. Live like a Seventh Day Adventist. Americans who define themselves as Seventh Day Adventists have an average life expectancy of 89, about a decade longer than the average American. One of the basic tenets of the religion is that its important to cherish the body thats on loan from God, which means no smoking, alcohol abuse, or overindulging in sweets. Followers typically stick to a vegetarian diet based on fruits, vegetables, beans, and nuts, and get plenty of exercise. Theyre also very focused on family and community.
9. Be a creature of habit. Centenarians tend to live by strict routines, says Olshansky, eating the same kind of diet and doing the same kinds of activities their whole lives. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day is another good habit to keep your body in the steady equilibrium that can be easily disrupted as you get on in years. Your physiology becomes frailer when you get older, explains Ferrucci, and its harder for your body to bounce back if you, say, miss a few hours of sleep one night or drink too much alcohol. This can weaken immune defenses, leaving you more susceptible to circulating flu viruses or bacterial infections.
10. Stay connected. Having regular social contacts with friends and loved ones is key to avoiding depression, which can lead to premature death, something thats particularly prevalent in elderly widows and widowers. Some psychologists even think that one of the biggest benefits elderly folks get from exercise the strong social interactions that come from walking with a buddy or taking a group exercise class. Having a daily connection with a close friend or family member gives older folks the added benefit of having someone watch their back. ll tell you if they think your memory is going or if you seem more withdrawn, says Perls, and they might push you to see a doctor before you recognize that you need to see one yourself.

If you plan to share Genesis with your friends and family, in addition to maybe purchasing leads, marketing it online or through things like Craigslist, joining network groups, talking to strangers, etc., etc. ... the following list may be of assistance. It's a good "memory jogger" of people you've known throughout your life.

Remember, anyone, from any walk of life, could be successful at this business. The main question we always ask? Are they HUNGRY for a better life? With a big enough "WHY," a person can do anything they put their mind to.

Have you ever heard of "Locks Of Love"?
WHAT IS LOCKS OF LOVE?
"Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers."

After reading this my all so giving baby girl decided this was something she wanted to do. She let her hair grow to over 10 inches long and this week-end we went in to get it cut. These are her before and after pictures. Maybe this will encourage someone else to do the same. She is always looking for ways to bless others. She makes me so proud!.

Wow!!! Read it all the way thru. This put me in tears of joy....Glory to Christ

Former Broncos lineman Matt Lepsis turns from drugs to faith-"Matt Lepsis was living the good life last season, making millions in the NFL and finally fitting in when he locked himself in a closet and screamed for help: Please, God, help me kick this drug habit.
The Denver Broncos left tackle, who called it quits after last season and enrolled in seminary, admitted he was high on drugs for the first six games of his final season.
"There are times my mind was completely in a different place than concentrating on the next play," Lepsis told The Associated Press. "I was in another world."
There, in that closet in his house, struggling to kick a habit that intensified after knee surgery following the 2006 season, Lepsis begged for help.
He believes he was heard - and rescued.
The drug habit now gone, Lepsis - who declined to identify which recreational drugs he abused - is taking classes at Dallas Theological Seminary, learning Greek and taking an introduction to theology course.
The offensive lineman had nearly US$9 million left on his contract over two years. But he walked away, retiring after last season.
"People hear this story and think, 'He was at rock bottom and had nowhere to go and was trying to find answers to all these problems. So naturally he looked to God,"' said Lepsis, who first told his story to the Colorado Springs Gazette. "That's not what happened. I can't stress this enough: I was loving life."
The drugs transformed Lepsis from a "wallflower" into a "social butterfly," he said. After struggling with social anxiety issues, he was suddenly more outgoing and personable.
"I felt like it was making me a better person," he said. "I felt like I could communicate with people better. It was helping me."
Not in football, though.
Not that he gave it much consideration.
"It was to a point I was willing to sacrifice that," said Lepsis, who didn't want to address how he dodged the league's drug tests. "Just because I felt like it was helping me with every other way in my life."
The week before the Broncos were scheduled to play Jacksonville in September 2007, Lepsis was outside playing with his kids when his phone rang.
No one there, just music.
Not just music, though, but the "Dave Matthews Band," his favourite group.
Not just any song, either, but a song he knew well - " 41" - and Matthews was singing the lyrics, "The difficulty is coming."
A few days later, he put on his head phones at his locker - same song, same lyrics.
His initial reaction was he was going to perish in a plane crash.
At a birthday party, he explained it to a friend, who reassured him.
"She said, 'There's nothing for you to worry about. God's in control,"' Lepsis recounted. "If it's your time to go, it's your time to go. For the first time in my life, I was like, 'What?' I had never entertained that thought."
Lepsis had never been particularly religious. Still, the music intrigued him. He was sure a message was being delivered.
On a plane ride to Indianapolis the following week, Lepsis asked kicker Jason Elam if he could sit next to him. Elam, a devout Christian who now plays for Atlanta, was willing to listen.
"He just said, 'I think I'm going to need you for the entire flight,"' Elam said. "I really didn't have any pearls of wisdom, just tried to steer him the right way."
Lepsis went to chapel before the Colts game, where the topic of the sermon was fear.
"I was blown away," he said. "I'm hanging on every word."
After returning, he sought out Elam again. This time, Lepsis told the entire story, how he was dealing with a drug addiction.
"I was like, 'Can I do this thing with my addiction? Can I become a Christian and a believer and still continue to do this?"' Lepsis explained. "Jason said, 'No, you can't."'
So into the closet Lepsis went. He asked for help, didn't get high that day and had a horrible practice.
"I couldn't wait for it to end," Lepsis said. "I went into work sober for the first time in a long time and I had a miserable day. ... I'm angry for believing that God was going to supernaturally help me."
His wife, Shana, convinced him to try again.
Back into the closet he went.
The next day at practice he was talking to a few of his teammates, sharing his story, when it hit him: Here was Lepsis, someone who used drugs as a crutch to make himself more sociable, opening up to teammates.
"I get what I got through the drugs, but I get it through sharing my testimony for what God has done in my life," Lepsis said.
Never much of a reader, he started devouring books that Elam gave him.
In his hotel room before a game against Green Bay in October 2007, Lepsis was taking a hot shower, thinking about religion and how his eyes had been opened, the bathroom mirror steaming up. When the air began to clear, he saw the word "Jesus" written.
Probably just a born-again Christian who stayed in the room before him, perhaps a maid.
Whatever the case, it was another sign.
"This was a big decision. I didn't make it lightly," Lepsis said. "What are the odds that two weeks after this decision, this is written on the mirror? ... This was confirmation."
Elam remembers sitting in the locker room before a game in Chicago in late November last season, the nerves building. Sitting at his locker in full uniform was Lepsis, oblivious to the pressure and reading a book.
"I've never seen a change in someone so drastic and so genuine as with Matt," Elam said. "He's a completely different person. ... It's a pretty incredible story.
